Applications are invited from across the sector – from anyone and everyone keen to share their insights and learning from practice and research, or expertise in capability building. We aim to crowd source a range of presentations that represent the range of the sector and offer INVOLVE attendees the opportunity to learn new things, gain specific skills, hear about innovative programmes and research, and stretch the horizons of their practice with rangatahi.

Applications should describe what your presentation would be about and why it is important to share this information with others in the youth sector. They should also address the conference theme:

Criteria for Success
INVOLVE is about celebrating each other and our work with taiohi, strengthening our connections and enabling collaboration, and learning from each other to progress our practice. If you or your organisation have information, insights or innovation to share with the sector, we want to hear about it!

There are limited slots available in the INVOLVE programme, and we balance the programme based on diversity, originality, relevance, youth participation, quality and the engaging nature of the material and presentation.

There are different formats on offer for presentations. Please read the presentation descriptions to help you choose what format your presentation will best fit in.  The organising Rōpū reserves the right to refine session format, content and/or speaker selection.

Submission Guidelines

Once you have read the criteria and requirements, you will need to complete a short application form which includes submitting writing a personal bio and a brief overview describing your presentation. You may find it helpful to look at the application form ahead of time to help you write your application.

All presentation applications are to be submitted online – if there are barriers to applying online for you please contact involve@arataiohi.org.nz for a Word form.

 

What about the pandemic?

Our hope for INVOLVE, and the Plan A we are working towards, is that Aotearoa will remain at Level 1, and that our physical conference can go ahead at the Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington on 9-11 August 2021.

In our feedback from INVOLVE 2020, the first ever digital version of the conference, many of you told us that having a digital option allowed you to attend and present easily, and removed extra costs such as travel. In response to this, the 2021 programme will operate as a blended model - meaning that people applying to present have the option of presenting in person at the Michael Fowler Centre, or digitally via our web platform.

The application form for INVOLVE 2021 asks if you have a preference for your presentation medium (online/in-person), so have a think about what would work for you. You are able to select both options if you would be able to do either.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

  • Use the online application form to apply.

  • All submissions must be received by midnight 22 February 2021.

  • You or your organisation can submit as many applications as you like.

  • The applications will be evaluated by representatives of the youth sector and the organising Rōpū for INVOLVE.

  • You will be notified if your submission has been accepted to the INVOLVE programme by 12 April 2021.

All presenters must register for and pay to attend the conference.
Early bird registrations will be open until 7 May 2021. 
You will be notified if your submission has been successful by 12 April 2021 in order to ensure you can access lower fees.
