During the Covid-19 global pandemic, our nationwide lockdown/rāhui prompted a digital pivot for youth work, as our relationships and programmes relocated to an online environment. This created a number of issues that needed rapid navigation. Youth workers were confronted with their technological ability as well as young people’s access to the internet. We worried how we would cope without post-it notes! We discovered how much Zoom is too much Zoom.

This workshop summarises our learning and will give clarity to your intuition. The Prince’s Trust New Zealand devised an Online Engagement Framework to underpin our programmes, with three dimensions. digital ethics to underpin everything we do with online, an e-learning pedagogy to shape our programmes, and virtual facilitation skills for our staff and volunteers to develop. Join us as we explore how 2020 has dramatically transformed youth work online.
